Human Rights Day celebrates all our absolute rights and freedoms including a right to education, a decent living, health care and a right to live free from any form of discrimination among others. Here at Power Of Pads (POP) we’re aiming to make society fairer for all in a number of ways:
- The right to health – We are providing re-usable sanitary pads to try and limit the negative health consequences when girls lack the supplies and facilities to manage their menstrual health.
- The right to non-discrimination and gender equality – We’re helping girls fight against stigmas and norms related to menstrual health.
- The right to education – We’re aiming to provide girls with sanitary pads so they can go to school every day like their male peers. Lack of a safe place to manage menstrual hygiene can contribute to poor educational outcomes.
- The right to work – We’re offering women an opportunity to start their own sewing business where they can make an income, provide for their families and help their communities.
Here at POP we’re trying in our own way to help make a fairer society for the future.
