Almost the end of summer and people are busy doing DIY at home and getting children ready for the new term at school. Life is not so different in Buburi. Bricks are made from the soil to be sold to those who are able to build a house or make repairs. Local villagers make their houses from sticks and cow dung with a grass roof using methods that have not changed for hundreds of years. Twelve year old David, whose mother works in the clinic, is keeping piglets and they eat whatever the family have left after cooking, usually not much. The sale of the pigs will help fund his next term at school, no sale….no school! Perhaps in the UK a child would be happy to stay at home but David knows education is his passport to freedom from poverty and hunger. We welcome any donations to the clinic which is providing much needed health care for these very poor people.
