Trustees Noreen and Sallie returned from Buburi last week after an eventful trip. The clinic continues to go from strength to strength and this is recognised by The Public Health Department. The new Public Health Officer, Winifred Mulamba, paid a visit to the clinic, and said she was impressed by the amount of patients that were being seen and treated. Her visit coincided with an initiative to undertake cervical cancer screening in the area. She was pleased that there are imminent plans to open a small laboratory on site. This is a service that the community have requested for some time as it will save patients having to be referred elsewhere for further tests, which often means a long walk which is stressful when feeling ill.
The midwife, Joyce, has started seeing ante-natal patients and word is getting around about the service and also the baby bags are proving a draw to encourage mothers to attend 4 ante natal appointments.
