Sallie’s next trip June/July 2011

20th June 2011

Sallie is off to Buburi in just over a week. On this trip she will be with Katie Dixon, who is also a Registered Nurse from Devon. It is Katie’s first visit to Africa and she is really excited about it. She has been busy raising funds and to this end she ran ‘  The Great West Run’, congratulations Katie on the good effort!

Sallie and Katie will be there for a month and their plan is to do some teaching with the nurses and volunteers and also to apply for Ethical approval to undertake a pilot study looking at the incidence of diabetes in the rural population. Like all other countries there appears to be an increase in the incidence of diabetes but so far there has been no study to confirm this.
